To all you mommies with kids in daycare or school: I've noticed that since Ben started daycare, he no longer smells the same and I find it kind of disturbing. He smells like the daycare, a combination of tempra paint and toddler sweat. I find it kind of sad that he doesn't smell the way he used to. Is that just strange? Has anyone else felt like this?

Sorry, I didn't notice such a phenomenon with mine - although Robert went through a whole year of smelling like pee, thanks to the daycare's insistence on toilet training him without pullups!
If it helps at all, I think they probably go through all kinds of olfactory changes - certainly Colin doesn't smell the way he used to! It may be something simple like the daycare using unscented soap (non-allergenic) so Ben's not masked by a soap smell you're used to.
Do you know what's weird? Jack always comes home from nursery smelling sweet, like he's been dunked in a tank of syrup. I guess that beats pee and toddler sweat, though.
I definitely noticed this phenomenon. When my kids started school they began to come home smelling like a combination of pencil shavings and old apples (classroom and locker smells, respectively). I kind of liked it because it smells exactly like my elementary school days. But I always felt good when they bathed and washed their hair and smelled just like their old selves again.
